About

Codex & Quill was founded out of reverence for the physical book.

My work draws from medieval and early 15th century binding traditions–raised bands, hand sewing, wooden boards, and leather covers.

Every volume is bound slowly, deliberately, and by hand.

Based in British Columbia, Canada.

No shortcuts.
No mass production.
Only work meant to endure.

Philosophy

Book binding is a highly technical craft with a rich history. It is thanks to the generosity of other bookbinders who share their skill and expertise that I am able to continue this tradition.

With each book, I learn something new, try a different technique, and gain a further appreciation for the craft. It is my hope that you will see the passion that goes into the creation of each volume.
